Join us at Four Winds Farm on Friday, August 15, from 5:30-9:30pm to celebrate a decade of advancing soil health and clean water through the collaborative development of perennial Kernza and other cereals with our partners at University of Wisconsin and Clean Wisconsin.

Four Winds Farm, 5735 Adams Road, Fitchburg

Friday, August 15, 5:30-9:30pm

Treats made with MFAI Kernza Flour

Karben4 Fantasy Factory Beer made with Kernza

Non-Alcoholic Cocktails

Music on the Patio

We will gather on the first floor of Four Wind's iconic barn and event space to enjoy sweet and savory Kernza tarts and treats (made with MFAI-grown Fields Best Kernza), local organic grains, Karben4 beer, and music. This is a not-to-be-missed convening of the major players in the development of a Kernza supply chain in the state. Importantly, this is also a chance to send off one of the movement's founders, Valentin Picasso Risso - who is moving to Sweden.

"This is the biggest gathering of Kernza enthusisasts in Wisconsin, ever! It's not to be missed!" says MFAI's Research Director Dr. Nicole Tautges - who has long been a leader in developing planting and cultivation protocols for Kernza. "This is our chance to recognize Valentin's essential work, thank the people who started the movement, and imagine new horizons."

This event is FREE and you may come and go as you please, but there will be some moving speeches and opportunities to connect and honor the diverse, deep roots we share in this effort to save soil and protect water through agriculture. Please RSVP.

For more information about Kernza and MFAI's work to grow the perennial grain movement, please see the Kernza page on our website.

To see our Kernza production field, and other alternative crop trials, plan to attend our upcoming 2025 Annual Field Day and Spike-to-Fork Pancake Lunch at our Research Farm in East Troy on Aug. 27! RSVP HERE

I have a commitment Friday 8/15 want to know more about these events in the future.

Planning to go to Minnesota to learn about Kernza.

Nice to hear Wisconsin has options for exposure to Kernza.
