Action Alert: Ask Your Representative To Vote NO on the 2026 House Farm Bill

Managed grazing and other diversified conservation practices get little support from this new Farm Bill proposal.

UPDATE: The Vote on the farm bill has just been delayed until early May. Please do call or email in the next few days and ask your representative to VOTE NO.

After a year of intense market volatility, severe weather disasters, and a drastically reduced federal workforce (including nearly 40% of NRCS staff in Wisconsin), farmers and the American food system at large have been hit hard. We urgently need to pass a comprehensive farm bill that offers a new way forward. The House of Representatives is preparing to vote tomorrow, April 30th, on a farm bill that simply isn’t strong enough to meet the needs of farmers right now.

This farm bill as currently written:

  • Undermines proven, popular conservation programs by making unnecessary changes that would limit farmers’ ability to access these widely used, effective programs. See our short video on why FEDERAL FARM CONSERVATION PROGRAMS are so important to farmers and their communities.

  • Fails to provide funding for local food programs that would build stable domestic markets for farmers, foster local supply chain resiliency, and revitalize both urban and rural communities.

  • Does nothing to stabilize USDA operations, halt the needless reorganization plan, reverse attacks on programs that seek to increase opportunity across the food system, or ensure adequate staffing levels so farmers can actually access federal programs.

Farmers deserve more than what this farm bill offers. Please join us at Michael Fields Agricultural Institute in taking action to tell our representatives to vote against its passage.

It takes less than one minute. Email or Call your Representative today, urging them to vote NO on the House farm bill:
